I often think that the illustrations in a book are more important than the story itself, but that may be the artist in me speaking! Most of the books below are on my favorites list because of the stories told within its pictures, not just the words. I suppose that's why they are called picture books....
As a preservationist and community planner, I connected with this book that tells the story of a house over several generations. As always, Burton's illustrations are charming.

I often "borrowed" this book from my little brother's room. The world building is outstanding, plus, any book with architectural drawings (even stylistic ones like in this series) has my heart!
